Meet Our Director - Marcela Summerville

Marcela Summerville is the Director and Founder of the Spanish Workshop for Children. A native of Argentina, Marcela holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a MA in Biology degree. Marcela taught Biology for five years while living in Buenos Aires. After relocating to the United States in 1995, she spent three years teaching Spanish language courses. Upon becoming a mother in 1998, she developed an interest in early- language learning and she began teaching young children. With years of education and experience to draw from - as well two bilingual children of her own- Marcela used her passion for early learning and created a distinctive methodology for teaching Spanish. She founded Spanish Workshop for Children where she continues to achieve outstanding results working with young people and their families, along with presenting workshops at prestigious international conferences and in the United States as well.

Marcela is the co-author of two Parent's Choice Award winning books " Play and Learn Spanish" and " Play and Learn French" (McGraw Hill). She has been working as Co-Chair for the ACTFL-LLC-SIG (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) since November 2004 and she has also been appointed Pennsylvania State Representative of NNELL (National Network of Early Language Learning) where she is advocating early language learning.
